Arpan Gujarati is a leading researcher in the dependability and security of real-time cyber-physical systems (CPS), with a particular focus on the intersection of timing guarantees and safety. His most cited work, "When Is CAN the Weakest Link?" (2015), makes a foundational contribution by introducing a rigorous method to bound the Failures In Time (FIT) rate for Controller Area Network (CAN)-based real-time systems.
