About

Adeline Wang is a leading astronomical instrumentation scientist whose work has dramatically expanded our capacity to map the nearby universe. Her research centers on the design, construction, and commissioning of integral field spectrographs (IFS)—instruments that capture a spectrum for every pixel in an image, enabling detailed 3D views of galaxies. Wang’s major contribution is her central role in developing **Hector**, a modular IFS for the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT). Building on the success of the SAMI instrument, Hector uses high filling-fraction imaging fibre bundles to observe dozens of galaxies simultaneously.
