About

Zijin Zeng is pioneering the next generation of medical microrobotics, with a focused expertise in magnetic control systems for both capsule endoscopy and targeted drug delivery. His work addresses two critical challenges in minimally invasive medicine: achieving high-precision, multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) motion control and accurate localization of therapeutic robots. In his highly cited 2023 paper, Zeng constructed a human-sized magnetic control system enabling 5-DOF motion for capsule endoscope robots, a breakthrough for navigating the complex environment of the human stomach. To solve the equally vital problem of localization, he introduced a novel Dung Beetle Optimizer algorithm in 2024, achieving high-precision positioning for magnetic-controlled capsule robots (MCRs)—a key enabler for reliable diagnostics. Beyond gastrointestinal applications, Zeng is advancing cancer therapy; his 2023 work proposes a drug delivery strategy using a magnetically controlled nanorobotic swarm loaded with temozolomide to breach the blood-brain barrier for glioma treatment. With his papers rapidly accumulating citations and addressing the most pressing limitations in medical microrobotics—from control to localization to therapeutic delivery—Zijin Zeng is establishing himself as a rising leader in the field, directly translating robotic innovation into life-saving clinical solutions.
