About

Weiqin Chen is a leading researcher at the intersection of human-computer interaction, assistive technology, and STEM education. Her work focuses on designing and evaluating innovative interactive systems—particularly multitouch tabletops, tangible user interfaces, and educational robotics—to support diverse learners, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Her landmark 2012 review on multitouch tabletop technology for people with ASD (87 citations) established a foundational framework for using collaborative, tangible interfaces to address social and cognitive challenges. Chen also pioneered the RoboTable system (2009, 28 citations), which combined tabletop and tangible interfaces to create novel interactive learning environments.
