W. Rosing is a pioneering figure in time-domain astrophysics and robotic astronomical surveys. Their most impactful contribution is the creation of the Southern H-Alpha Sky Survey Atlas (SHASSA), a robotic wide-angle imaging survey of the southern sky at the hydrogen H-alpha emission line (656.3 nm).
