About

Ruolin Liu is a rising leader in flexible electronics and wearable sensor technology, with a focus on creating next-generation electronic skins that mimic human tactile perception. Her major contributions lie in engineering novel structural architectures and dielectric materials to overcome fundamental trade-offs in sensor performance. In her highly cited 2022 work (140 citations), Liu developed a breathable, waterproof electronic skin with a three-dimensional architecture capable of distinguishing pressure and strain stimuli in nonoverlapping modes—a critical advance for comfortable, multi-functional wearables in healthcare monitoring and human–machine interaction.
