Peter Davey is a robotics researcher whose career spans several decades of applied automation, with particular expertise in machine vision, robot control, and industrial automation for challenging real-world environments. His most influential work emerged from the field of robotic arc welding, where he tackled the formidable problem of maintaining weld quality on thin sheet steel — a domain plagued by dimensional inconsistencies from tool wear, springback, and thermal distortion.
