About
Mingyu Fu is a materials scientist whose research focuses on advancing polymer composites for high-performance tribological applications, particularly in lightweight robotics. Fu’s major contribution lies in engineering self-lubricating materials that overcome the inherent friction limitations of structural polymers. In their most cited work, “MXene‐Controlled PTFE Release for Ultra‐Low Friction PEEK Composites” (2025, 8 citations), Fu pioneered a strategy using Ti₃C₂Tₓ MXene nanosheets to precisely control the release of PTFE lubricant within PEEK matrices. This innovation achieved ultra-low friction coefficients, directly addressing a critical bottleneck in deploying PEEK for moving components in robotic systems. By demonstrating how two-dimensional MXene can modulate lubricant delivery, Fu’s work bridges the gap between structural integrity and tribological performance. Though early in their career, Fu’s approach has already attracted attention for its potential to reduce energy loss and wear in next-generation automation. Their research sits at the intersection of polymer science, nanotechnology, and mechanical engineering, offering a scalable pathway to durable, self-lubricating composites for demanding applications.
