About
M. Ramolla is an observational astronomer whose research centers on active galactic nuclei (AGN), reverberation mapping, and time-domain surveys of the southern sky. Working primarily with robotic telescope facilities at the Universitätssternwarte Bochum near Cerro Armazones, Chile, Ramolla has made significant contributions to the development and application of photometric reverberation mapping — a powerful, cost-effective technique for measuring the size of the broad-line region (BLR) around supermassive black holes and deriving accurate black hole masses. His foundational 2011 methodological paper on photometric AGN reverberation mapping has accumulated 99 citations, establishing a framework widely adopted by the community. Follow-up campaigns targeting individual AGN, including 3C 120, ESO 399-IG20, PGC 50427, and WPVS48, have yielded detailed constraints on both BLR and dust torus sizes, collectively garnering over 100 additional citations.
