M. Ramolla is an observational astronomer whose research centers on active galactic nuclei (AGN), reverberation mapping, and time-domain surveys of the southern sky. Working primarily with robotic telescope facilities at the Universitätssternwarte Bochum near Cerro Armazones, Chile, Ramolla has made significant contributions to the development and application of photometric reverberation mapping — a powerful, cost-effective technique for measuring the size of the broad-line region (BLR) around supermassive black holes and deriving accurate black hole masses.
