About
Ion Soroceanu is a researcher at the forefront of molecular electronics and spintronics, specializing in the integration of switchable molecular materials with organic semiconductor devices. His most notable contribution is the development of a novel organic field-effect transistor (OFET) that electrically senses molecular spin state switching in a spin crossover complex. In this pioneering work, Soroceanu fabricated a heterostructure combining an organic semiconductor with a spin crossover polymer, achieving a remarkable 50–70% increase in drain-source current upon spin state transition. This breakthrough, published in 2024 and already garnering 9 citations, demonstrates a proof-of-concept for all-electrical readout of molecular magnetic states, with profound implications for next-generation memory, sensing, and quantum computing technologies. By bridging the gap between molecular magnetism and organic electronics, Soroceanu’s research opens new pathways for ultra-compact, low-power spintronic devices. His work is particularly impactful for students and researchers exploring the frontiers of molecular-scale information processing and hybrid organic-inorganic interfaces.
