About

Gopal Bhatta is an observational astrophysicist whose research centers on the multiwavelength variability of active galactic nuclei (AGN) and the time-domain behavior of supermassive black hole systems. His major contributions include leading a landmark multiwavelength monitoring campaign of the bright Seyfert galaxy Ark 120, which combined coordinated Swift X-ray/UV observations with ground-based optical data from the Skynet Robotic Telescope Network over a ~50-day period. This work, published in 2020 with 23 citations, revealed critical insights into the time delays between different emission regions around the central black hole, helping to constrain the geometry and physics of the accretion flow.
