About
Dr. Ehsan Saeedi is a leading figure in advanced micro- and nano-manufacturing, with a core focus on self-assembly processes and heterogeneous integration. His seminal work, "Automation and yield of micron-scale self-assembly processes" (2007, 9 citations), pioneered the use of self-assembly to precisely integrate large numbers of free-standing microcomponents—fabricated from disparate semiconductor materials—onto unconventional substrates. This breakthrough addressed a critical bottleneck in microfabrication: the incompatibility of processing different materials on a single chip. By demonstrating how to batch-fabricate components separately and then assemble them with high yield, Saeedi’s research has enabled the creation of novel, multi-functional microsystems that were previously impossible to manufacture. His contributions are foundational to the field of deterministic self-assembly, offering scalable solutions for flexible electronics, MEMS, and photonic devices. Through this work, Dr. Saeedi has established a powerful paradigm for integrating diverse materials and components, significantly advancing the capabilities of modern micro- and nano-scale systems.
