David Antoine is a leading oceanographer whose research centers on satellite ocean color remote sensing, marine biogeochemistry, and the dynamics of phytoplankton in the global ocean. His most influential contribution is the development and validation of an algorithm to detect blue-absorbing aerosols from satellite ocean color sensors, which he applied to seven years of SeaWiFS data (1998–2004).
