About

Marin Cornec is an emerging leader in polar oceanography, whose research centers on the dynamics of phytoplankton blooms and carbon cycling in the Southern Ocean. Cornec’s major contribution lies in unraveling the controls on Deep Chlorophyll Maxima (DCMs)—subsurface layers of concentrated phytoplankton that are critical to marine food webs and carbon export.
