About
Daijyu Matsui is a pioneering figure in the field of chemical sensing and materials science, with a particular focus on the development of gas-sorption technologies. His key research areas include plasma-polymerized films, piezoelectric sensors, and the functionalization of organic materials for environmental and industrial monitoring. Matsui’s most-cited work, “Gas sorption to plasma-polymerized copper phthalocyanine film formed on a piezoelectric crystal” (1990, 103 citations), represents a foundational contribution to the design of sensitive, selective gas sensors. In this study, he demonstrated how plasma-polymerized copper phthalocyanine films could be integrated with piezoelectric crystals to detect gaseous analytes, effectively marrying organic semiconductor chemistry with microbalance sensing principles. This innovation has had a lasting impact on the development of electronic noses and real-time air quality monitoring systems.
