About
Cheng Wu is a pioneering researcher whose work spans two distinct and impactful fields: intelligent autonomous systems and urological surgery. In artificial intelligence, Wu is best known for his seminal 2017 review on the development of intelligent unmanned autonomous systems, which has accumulated 174 citations and is widely regarded as a foundational reference in the field. This work explores how AI-driven autonomous platforms can drive innovation across defense, robotics, and civilian applications. In parallel, Wu has made significant contributions to surgical oncology, particularly through a 2022 randomized controlled trial on sustainable functional urethral reconstruction (SFUR) during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy. This study demonstrated that SFUR significantly improves early urinary continence recovery in prostate cancer patients, offering a practical, patient-centered advancement in robotic surgery. Wu’s ability to bridge cutting-edge AI with clinical urology highlights his versatility and commitment to translational research. His work not only shapes the future of autonomous systems but also directly enhances postoperative quality of life, making him a notable figure in both engineering and medicine.
