About

Arvind Agarwal is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of advanced nanocomposites and bioinspired soft robotics. His work focuses on engineering multifunctional materials, particularly through the development of three-dimensional graphene foam-reinforced epoxy composites. In his highly cited 2017 study (88 citations), Agarwal demonstrated how 3D graphene foam can simultaneously enhance the mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of epoxy nanocomposites, establishing a scalable approach for creating lightweight, high-performance materials. He has further advanced shape memory polymers by creating electrically and thermally triggered graphene-foam-reinforced composites that overcome traditional limitations in recovery rate and mechanical strength. Demonstrating remarkable breadth, Agarwal has also drawn inspiration from nature, investigating the micro-mechanosensory properties of Mimosa pudica leaves to develop adaptive soft robotics. His work on meso/macro-scale ultra-soft materials has led to novel mechanical property evaluation devices critical for biomedical and wearable electronics applications. With a growing citation impact and a portfolio spanning from fundamental materials science to bioinspired engineering, Agarwal continues to push boundaries in creating smarter, more responsive materials for next-generation technologies.
