About
Adriano Scibilia is a leading researcher in the field of human–robot collaboration (HRC), with a focus on ensuring safe and effective physical interaction between humans and machines. His work addresses critical challenges in industrial robotics, particularly in validating safety standards for collaborative robots that operate without physical barriers. Scibilia’s most cited paper, "Validating Safety in Human–Robot Collaboration: Standards and New Perspectives" (2021, 98 citations), provides a comprehensive framework for assessing safety in power- and force-limited robots, a cornerstone for modern HRC implementation. He has also made significant contributions to modeling human control dynamics, as seen in his survey on human control model estimation (2022, 18 citations) and his development of a self-adaptive robot control framework for teleoperation (2018). His recent work on nonlinear modeling for force estimation (2024) and a review of three decades of upper-limb robotic neurorehabilitation (2024) demonstrates his versatility, bridging industrial applications with medical robotics. With over 150 total citations, Scibilia’s research is pivotal for advancing safe, intelligent human–robot systems, influencing both academic research and practical deployment in manufacturing and rehabilitation.
