Interface ....................................................................................................583 15.6 Conclusion ..........................................................................................................................585 References .....................................................................................................................................585SUMMARY This chapter focuses on recording neural network activity in vitro (outside their normal biological system) through microelectrode arrays, an electrophysiological recording method that captures extracellular voltages of a neuronal network and proceeds to explore how in vitro neural networks can be combined with robotics to create hybrid systems that are composed of biological brains and artificial bodies.
