Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed the healthcare industry through the development of novel smart health monitoring systems. These systems enable caregivers and health professionals to access, monitor, and assess real-time patient health data remotely and in a more accurate manner. This paper presents a prototype-based smart health monitoring system that uses IoT technologies and Autonomous Intelligent Robotics (AIR) to support human-computer interaction (HCI) and address the core challenges of in-home patient health monitoring. The system comprises several low-cost and non-intrusive sensing nodes, mobile communication mechanisms, and a cloud-based data platform. sensor nodes allow the system to acquire various vital physiological parameters in a non-invasive manner. A low-cost and lightweight robot has also been developed to track and monitor the physical wellbeing of the patient. All the acquired patient data is securely transferred to a cloud platform for further analysis, activity tracking, and personalized care planning. We have also developed a user-friendly mobile application for caregivers to access and monitor patient health data in real-time. The proposed smart health monitoring system aims to bridge the gap between healthcare, technology, and people, in order to provide cost-effective and personalized healthcare.
