Abstract

Cyber-Physical Systems plays an important role in smart factories. Nowadays, factories are adopting highly automated environment for more efficient and reliable industrial operations. The industrial systems should operate continuously in this highly automated environment. Therefore, fault detection and tolerant systems has become an essential part of smart factories. Fault detection and tolerance is a challenging task as it needs to deal with uncertain and unpredictable nature of industrial systems. We have developed a pick and place robot using LEGO mindstorms NXT kit, for experimental purpose. Faults occurring in the pick and place robot are detected. In order to remove these faults, we have used neural network methodology. From the results we can conclude that, the proposed system can detect the faults as well as it has capability to reduce the faults up to great extent.
