Artificial Intelligence in Screenplay

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a field which is advancing rapidly. Its use has become increasingly prevalent in various industries, from robotics to communication. The purpose of this study is to explore the innovations that AI bring to the cinema industry, as well as to investigate the possibilities offered by current AI applications in cinema. Cinema is an industry and art form that can potentially utilize various AI capabilities, benefit from innovations in mass communication and creative technologies. This study examines scriptwriting process using ChatGPT. Designed as a case study, the research conducts scriptwriting experiments with ChatGPT based on given genre, themes, and keywords. The limitations of the research include the use of ChatGPT, with ten research attendees -Scriptwriting class students-, using specific prompts. The results of the study will provide insights into how artificial intelligence contributes to screenplay writing both currently and over time, revealing its shortcomings, benefits, conveniences, and potential areas for development.
