Abstract
Optical curvature sensor with high resolution is highly needed in mechanical engineering, robotic arms, etc. We propose a new curvature sensor based on the single-mode-multimode-single-mode (SMS) structure and the microwave photonic filter. The SMS is made of ring core fiber which has the characteristics of bending-loss-resistant. A method for optimizing the response spectrum of the filter is proposed, which promotes the practicability of the scheme. The measured resolution is up to 3.504$\times10^{-6}{{\mathrm {m}}}^{-1}$.
