View Video Presentation: https://doi.org/10.2514/6.2021-4145.vid In this work, the preliminary design for a jumping robot capable of exploring planetary bodies and withstanding the harsh Space environment is discussed. A comparison of various jumping mechanisms was performed, and it was determined a series elastic mechanical advantage mechanism would be the most advantageous for high mobility exploration. This mechanism will provide significant jumping height, and frequency and an initial prototype was constructed to begin exploring a design. This work will focus more on the design elements and adjustments.
