Abstract

This paper introduces a method which enables users to control autonomous mobile robots using Android smart phone. After the robot is connected with smart phone by Bluetooth, all the sensor values reading from the robot will be transmitted to smart phone and processed. Then, command/instruction for next action is transmitted from smart phone to the mobile robot. Hence, the main “brain” of robot is on the smart phone instead of on the mobile robot. The experimental performance shows that the mobile robot moves smoothly with Bluetooth - based control by using smart phone.
