Abstract

Soft robotic systems are en route in becoming like their natural ideals in performance and capabilities. While leaving research labs to penetrate every aspect of our lives, these soft technologies are set to match nature also in ecological footprint. Sustainability in materials, production and disposal of soft robots is summarized by Martin Kaltenbrunner and co-workers in article number 2004413 and illustrated on the cover of this special issue with a resilient, yet fully degradable soft actuator.
