Abstract

Robots are devices that are designed to carry out a particular set of works more effectively in a restricted environment. These systems comprise of rigid links and complex mechanisms that are compatible with the human workspace, but they also confine the robot to carry out a complex kinesis at a micro level. The limitations of the hardware have curbed the increasing capabilities of robots. origami is one of the most emerging technologies, which serves as a key to the mere future robots. The contemporary work confers the advancements taking place in the field of soft origami-inspired microrobots. Various types of actuators that can be incorporated within this system to execute complex motions is also stated in the present work. A comparative assessment is done between conventional robots and origami robots based on their design features. These new class of micro-robots will influence the humans in mitigation, environmental monitoring and Interplanetary exploration.
