Abstract

This work describes three fundamental components of the Robot project for maintenance and inspection of building gutters: HMI (user interface), Robot simulator Background for Occupational safety and health (OSH) and finally charging system with clean energy. The user interface has been implemented through Labview, which allows the robot to be remotely operated in three modes: manual, semiautomatic and automatic, successfully validating in the laboratory the orientation control and the gutter wall tracking, remote distance monitoring from the sensors, and visual feedback from the camera. The foundation of OSH has been reviewed in Colombia, and international standards, to formulate the protocol for safe work at heights at the time of raising or lowering the robot from its operation area; and finally, the photovoltaic charging strategy for the robot’s batteries has been formulated to improve the operation efficiency with clean energy.
