Abstract

Assistive robotic technology has attracted huge attention among the researchers and the common society as well. Mainly assistive robots like exoskeletons and prosthetics are very much effective in rehabilitation expansions for the people having the physical weakness, aged, wounded or disabled due to spinal cord injury for advancing their quality of life. The lower limb exoskeleton robotic device is used to assist or rehabilitate the physically challenged person who have lost their mobility power. The controlling method of the lower limb exoskeleton with the user's motion intention is very vital factor of consideration. The Electroencephalography (EEG) signal is one of the most suitable signal to identify the human intention of motion. Although there has been incredible evolution over the past few years in control procedures of lower limb exoskeletons through EEG signal, there are several problems which need further research effort. Hence in the current study, the control of a lower body exoskeleton using EEG signal and the related issues are addressed. More precisely this paper focuses on the issues of control and the feasibility of Brain Computer Interfacing (BCI) techniques for the evaluation of the lower-limb exoskeletons till date. Further some working results have been provided on the basis of authors' investigations to establish the concept of controlling lower limb exoskeleton through EEG signals.
