A Versatile Robotic Device Designed to Perform Cleaning Tasks on Floor Surfaces

Cleaning the floor and household is a daily routine. Vacuum cleaners have made cleaning easier, but vacuum cleaners are large, noisy, and pricey, making them quite uncomfortable. These vacuum cleaners are inappropriate for Indian-style homes due to its space occupying feature and high cost. This research study has made an attempt to develop a compact and cost-efficient residential floor cleaner robot with an additional function of operating it via mobile phone connectivity. This residential floor-cleaning robot uses Arduino as the main component and also includes ultrasonic and infrared sensors. This technology allows the robot to be navigated using a Smartphone without requiring an active internet connection. This robot also includes a robust DC motor for mopping the floor and a vacuum pump with a suction power of 600 PSI to remove the dust. It navigates the home, avoids obstruction, and cleans the floor efficiently by using a combination of sensors, algorithms and programming.
