About
Zhongyuan Ping is a biomedical engineer whose research sits at the intersection of advanced imaging, robotics, and minimally invasive surgery. His primary contributions focus on developing novel tools and algorithms for real-time, in vivo tissue assessment during surgical procedures. Ping is best known for his pioneering work in probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE), where he created a robust mosaicing algorithm using a context-weighted correlation ratio to stitch together microscopic images, overcoming the modality’s limited field of view.
