Zhijun Ma is a leading innovator in stretchable electronics and soft bio-interfaced systems, whose work bridges materials chemistry, device engineering, and wearable technology. His research centers on developing permeable, deformable conductors and self-powered sensory platforms that can seamlessly integrate with the human body. Ma’s most influential contribution is the invention of a permeable superelastic liquid-metal fibre mat, which enables biocompatible and monolithic stretchable electronics—a paper that has garnered over 729 citations for its paradigm-shifting approach to breathable, high-performance soft circuits.
