About

Yu-Ming You is a leading figure in the field of molecular ferroelectrics, with a research focus on designing flexible, high-performance piezoelectric materials. His most significant contribution is the discovery of an organic-inorganic perovskite ferroelectric that exhibits a large piezoelectric response, a breakthrough published in *Science* in 2017 that has garnered over 1,060 citations. This work demonstrated that molecular materials could rival traditional ceramic piezoelectrics in performance while offering superior mechanical flexibility. Building on this, You developed two-dimensional layered perovskite ferroelectrics with a giant piezoelectric voltage coefficient, a key metric for sensor applications, achieving a high Curie temperature essential for practical device stability. His recent work addresses the inherent brittleness of these materials by creating flexible mechano-optical dual-responsive composites, opening new avenues for advanced anticounterfeiting and encryption technologies. With a highly cited and rapidly growing body of work, You is recognized for pushing the boundaries of molecular ferroelectrics from fundamental science toward real-world, flexible electronic applications.
