Yoshio Ohtuka is a pioneering researcher in the field of haptic interfaces, specializing in the development of robotic systems that convey realistic touch sensations to the human hand. His most notable contribution is the creation of HIRO II, a five-fingered haptic interface robot capable of presenting both force and tactile feedback to each fingertip. This work, published in 2005 and cited 18 times, represents a significant advancement in safe, human-like robotic interaction, enabling more intuitive and immersive virtual environments. Ohtuka has also made critical contributions to the understanding of haptic perception, particularly through his research on friction moments.
