Xiting Wang is a rising atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on the characterization of aerosol optical properties, with a particular emphasis on bridging the critical gap between daytime and nighttime observations. Wang's major contributions lie in advancing the use of sun-sky-lunar photometry to provide a continuous, diurnal cycle of aerosol data, a feat traditionally hindered by the lack of a reliable lunar calibration. In their highly cited 2024 work, Wang tackled this challenge by evaluating nocturnal aerosol optical depth (AOD) determination using a Cimel CE318‑T photometer in Lanzhou, Northwest China, establishing a robust methodology for nighttime measurements. Building on this, Wang’s 2025 study in southwest Tajikistan provided the first-ever examination of diurnal and nocturnal dust aerosol characteristics in the region, revealing crucial insights into dust transport and variability.
