About
Xiaoyue Wang’s research bridges the critical domains of reliability engineering and advanced soft robotics, with a focus on optimizing complex systems and developing bio-inspired intelligent materials. In reliability engineering, Wang’s most impactful work introduces a novel joint optimization framework for multi-stage component reassignment and preventive maintenance in balanced systems, accounting for imperfect maintenance actions. This contribution, which has garnered 47 citations since 2023, directly addresses the challenge of extending system lifespan and operational efficiency in industrial applications. In the realm of soft robotics, Wang has pioneered the development of a somatosensory electro-thermal actuator using laser-induced graphene technology. This work, with 24 citations, achieves a significant breakthrough by mimicking the biological unity of action and perception—integrating sensing and actuating functions within a single material, a key step toward more intelligent, autonomous soft robots. Earlier foundational work applied RBF neural networks to nonlinear robot trajectory planning. Through these diverse yet interconnected contributions, Wang demonstrates a clear trajectory from foundational neural network applications to cutting-edge, multi-functional material systems, establishing a reputation for impactful, interdisciplinary engineering research.
