About

Xiaohu Shi is a rising leader in the development of next-generation bioelectronic interfaces and neuromorphic systems. His research focuses on two transformative areas: imperceptible wearable electronics and bioinspired artificial neural circuits. Shi’s most prominent contribution is the creation of “electronic tattoos” based on large-area Mo₂C films grown by chemical vapor deposition. This work, published in 2023 and already garnering 18 citations, demonstrates a breakthrough in comfortable, high-performance electrophysiology sensors that can be worn imperceivably for continuous health monitoring and human-machine interaction. In parallel, Shi has pioneered the use of paraffin-enabled superlattice customization to fabricate photostimulated gradient-responsive artificial reflex arcs. This 2024 study, with 4 early citations, represents a significant step toward building light-driven motion reflexes for advanced robotics and autonomous navigation. By merging materials science with neural engineering, Shi is creating the foundational technologies for wearable healthcare systems and intelligent machines that can sense and respond to their environments with unprecedented subtlety and comfort.
