About

Toshiya Ohtsuka is a pioneering cardiac surgeon whose work has redefined the boundaries of minimally invasive heart surgery. His primary research focus is the advancement of robot-assisted, totally endoscopic techniques for complex valvular and structural heart disease. Ohtsuka’s major contributions include developing novel strategies for combined procedures, such as the simultaneous robot-assisted mitral valve plasty and Nuss procedure for pectus excavatum patients—a feat made possible by his original electrical sternum lifting system.
