About

Suli Wu is a leading researcher in the field of smart, responsive materials, with a particular focus on photonic elastomers and interactive electronic fibers. Her work masterfully integrates dynamic covalent chemistry with structural color to create materials that are not only mechanically robust and self-healing but also capable of optical function recovery. In a landmark 2021 study (144 citations), Wu introduced a photonic vitrimer elastomer that achieves an unprecedented combination of high toughness, mechanochromism, and self-healing durability, solving a long-standing challenge in the field. Prior to this, she developed an interactively full-color changeable electronic fiber sensor (2020, 111 citations), which mimics the rapid color changes of natural creatures to visualize environmental stimuli with high stretchability and rapid response. This work has been highly influential in the development of smart textiles and wearable electronics. Wu’s contributions are pioneering the next generation of adaptive, durable, and optically functional soft materials, establishing her as a key innovator in advanced functional polymers.
