Stephen E. Derenzo is a pioneering figure in the development of advanced scintillation detectors and radiation imaging systems, with a career spanning over four decades at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research focuses on the discovery of new scintillator materials, high-resolution positron emission tomography (PET) detector design, and the physics of radiation detection.
