Stefan O.R. Pfleiderer is a pioneering figure in medical robotics, with his research centered on the development of robotic systems for minimally invasive breast cancer diagnosis and therapy. His major contribution lies in the creation of the ROBITOM (ROBOT for Biopsy and Therapy Of the Mamma) platform, a groundbreaking manipulator system designed to perform precise, large-core breast biopsies inside high-field whole-body MR scanners.
