About

Shuo-Wang Qiao is a leading immunologist whose work has fundamentally shaped our understanding of celiac disease pathogenesis. Her research centers on the molecular interplay between tissue transglutaminase (TG2) and dietary gliadin peptides, revealing how this interaction drives the autoimmune response. In her landmark 2002 study, cited over 230 times, Qiao demonstrated that TG2 selectively deamidates specific glutamine residues in gliadin, creating high-affinity epitopes recognized by disease-causing T cells.
