Sandra Nuyts is a leading Belgian head and neck oncologist whose research focuses on advancing surgical and adjuvant therapies for oropharyngeal and laryngeal cancers. Her major contributions center on transoral robotic surgery (TORS), where she has pioneered its use both as a primary treatment and as a salvage option for recurrent disease after chemoradiotherapy. In her landmark 2017 multicenter study (38 citations), she demonstrated the functional and oncologic feasibility of TORS across Belgian institutions, establishing a standardized approach for up-front and salvage procedures.
