Samuel Tobler is a key figure in the development of next-generation, robotic ground-based gamma-ray astronomy. His research centers on the deployment and operation of Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs), with a specific focus on pioneering the use of silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs or G-APDs) to replace traditional photomultiplier tubes.
