About

Samuel Swisher‐McClure is a leading radiation oncologist and clinical researcher whose work focuses on de-intensifying treatment for human papillomavirus (HPV)-related oropharyngeal cancer, a disease with rising incidence and excellent prognosis. His major contributions center on refining surgical and radiation strategies to reduce long-term toxicity without compromising oncologic outcomes. His landmark Phase 2 AVOID trial (167 citations) demonstrated that omitting the resected primary tumor bed from postoperative radiation after transoral robotic surgery (TORS) is safe and spares healthy tissue.
