Dr. Patrick O. Richard is a pioneering urologic surgeon and researcher whose work has significantly advanced the field of robotic-assisted kidney and bladder surgery. His primary research focuses on refining nephron-sparing techniques, particularly through the development of novel classification systems that improve surgical planning for renal masses. Dr. Richard’s most impactful contribution is the creation of the RPN (Radius, Position, iNvasion) nephrometry scoring system, an internationally developed, robotic-specific classification that standardizes the assessment of surgical difficulty for partial nephrectomies.
