About
Robin Weston is a leading urological surgeon whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of robotic-assisted surgery for bladder and kidney cancers. His primary research focuses on standardizing complex robotic procedures and developing structured training protocols to improve patient safety. Weston’s most impactful contribution is the 2016 consensus view on enhanced recovery after robot-assisted radical cystectomy, which has garnered 141 citations and set a global benchmark for perioperative care. He further shaped the field by leading a Delphi consensus study to define a structured training curriculum for robot-assisted radical cystectomy, a critical step in safely expanding this technically demanding procedure. In kidney cancer, Weston has made significant strides through a multicentre study on robot-assisted partial nephrectomy and, most recently, by co-developing the RPN classification system—a novel, internationally validated nephrometry score specifically designed to predict surgical difficulty for robotic partial nephrectomy.
