About

Paolo Laj is a leading atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on aerosol–climate interactions, air quality, and the long-range transport of pollutants. He has made seminal contributions to understanding how natural and anthropogenic aerosols influence the Earth’s radiative balance, particularly through the integration of ground-based observations, satellite data, and global model simulations. A key achievement is his leadership in the AeroCom Phase III initiative, where he coordinated a multi-model evaluation of aerosol optical properties against a suite of observational networks—including AERONET, MODIS, and GAW surface sites.
