About
Dr. Neeraj Sethi is a pioneering head and neck surgeon whose work centers on advancing minimally invasive transoral surgical techniques for oropharyngeal and parapharyngeal tumors. His major contributions lie in refining and expanding the applications of transoral robotic surgery (TORS), particularly through his innovative use of the Medrobotic Flex® system. His landmark paper, "Transoral robotic surgery using the Medrobotic Flex® system: the Adelaide experience" (2019, 27 citations), established a benchmark for this technology in Australia. Dr. Sethi is also recognized for developing a novel, resource-conscious alternative to robotic surgery: the endoscopic video-assisted transoral resection technique, which achieves comparable outcomes using standard otolaryngology instruments (2017, 8 citations). This work democratizes access to advanced tumor resection. Further demonstrating his technical ingenuity, he described the TORS narrow-field oropharyngectomy for parapharyngeal space tumors (2020, 5 citations), a challenging anatomical area. With a career focused on improving surgical precision and patient outcomes, Dr. Sethi’s work bridges the gap between cutting-edge robotics and practical, accessible surgical innovation.
