About
Vinidh Paleri is a leading head and neck surgical oncologist whose research has significantly shaped the modern management of oropharyngeal cancers and cancers of unknown primary (CUP). His work centers on transoral robotic surgery (TORS), minimally invasive surgical techniques, and the diagnostic workup of metastatic head and neck disease in the HPV era. Paleri has been instrumental in establishing the evidence base for tongue base mucosectomy as a diagnostic tool for unknown primary cancers, demonstrated through his widely cited 2019 systematic review and meta-analysis (81 citations) and his landmark UK experience paper (50 citations). His contributions extend to defining the oncological and functional outcomes of TORS in both primary and recurrent oropharyngeal cancers, with multiple systematic reviews and international cohort studies to his name. Notably, his research informed the 2025 ASCO Guidelines on TORS for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, reflecting the clinical translation of his work at the highest level. His prospective studies on swallowing recovery further underscore his commitment to patient-centered outcomes. With over 390 citations across his key publications, Paleri's research continues to influence surgical practice and multidisciplinary care pathways globally.
